Novartis seeks a Director, Delivery Segment Manager in Basel to lead AI and high-performance compute initiatives, managing delivery segments and guiding high-performing teams.
This position plays a central role in advancing biomedical research by leveraging advanced artificial intelligence and high-performance computing platforms. The incumbent will lead a capable team to deliver innovative digital solutions, ensuring that strategic objectives are met through coordinated execution and effective portfolio management.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the implementation of the artificial intelligence strategy, collaborating with data science groups to build the AI agent ecosystem.
- Expand and support high-performance compute resources that directly contribute to biomedical research achievements.
- Manage a delivery segment focused on capabilities, balancing investment, risk, capacity, and value priorities.
- Convert enterprise-level strategy and architecture into specific segment goals, roadmaps, and measurable results.
- Guarantee consistent and synchronized delivery across projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
- Offer portfolio-level insights on prioritization and investment to aid strategic decision-making processes.
- Mentor and develop delivery leads and team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Report progress, challenges, and outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders and the broader organization.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Data & Digital functions and senior corporate IT leaders.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience delivering artificial intelligence and high-performance compute platforms at an enterprise level.
- Over ten years in product and project management across diverse, multi-team digital portfolios.
- Demonstrated success in delivering outcomes that align with organizational strategy.
- Strong background in portfolio planning, prioritization, and investment management.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and delivery leaders.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leadership.
- Deep expertise in scientific software, data management, and AI-enabled digital capabilities.
- Experience working effectively in complex, cross-functional environments.
Nice to have
- Formal certification in project management methodologies, such as PMP or Certified Scrum Master.
- Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific research settings.
