The role is central to research operations at the Stein site, where the incumbent grows plants from seed to delivery size to support scientific teams.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate high-quality plant material to ensure reproducible results for biological trials
  • Perform all essential gardening tasks, including sowing, transplanting, repotting, and watering
  • Independently monitor plant health to detect and manage diseases or pest infestations
  • Optimize cultivation methods for crop plants in coordination with the team leader
  • Utilize digital tools to document and streamline cultivation processes
  • Participate in small technical projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations during work activities
  • Collaborate effectively within a small, high-performing team
  • Work periodic shifts on Sundays and public holidays as required

Requirements

  • Completed vocational training as a Gardener EFZ, Florist, Biology Laboratory Technician, or equivalent
  • Good proficiency in German
  • Basic written and spoken English skills
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong teamwork abilities and a high sense of responsibility

Nice to have

  • Experience growing various crops under greenhouse conditions with strict quality standards
  • Interest in digitalization, new technologies, and automation within greenhouse settings
  • Sharp observational skills and a meticulous approach to work
