Ypsomed seeks a Senior Human Factors Engineer & Service Lead in Burgdorf to establish HF services, manage international studies, and advise pharmaceutical clients on regulatory compliance.
Ypsomed designs injection and infusion systems for self-medication in chronic disease management. This position is responsible for building out Human Factors as a distinct service line, securing new projects, and guiding customers through complex usability strategies for combination products.
Responsibilities
- Develop Human Factors into a standalone service offering and lead efforts to acquire related projects.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to pharmaceutical partners regarding usability approaches for combination products.
- Plan, execute, and oversee international formative, summative, and comparative usability studies.
- Oversee relationships with external consultants, vendors, and third-party testing labs.
- Direct or assist with Human Factors tasks concerning Instructions for Use and user interface design.
- Draft, update, and audit usability engineering files required for regulatory filings.
- Convert findings from usability research into strategic publications and evidence-based materials.
- Monitor global regulatory trends in Human Factors and help define the company’s stance on these issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Usability Engineering, Product Design, Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of seven years of professional experience working as a Human Factors consultant.
- Prior work experience within the combination product or medical device sector.
- Deep practical expertise in organizing, running, and documenting large-scale Human Factors studies for medical devices or combination products.
- Robust project management capabilities with a track record of handling several complex initiatives at once.
- Familiarity with international development programs and regulatory submissions for major markets including the FDA, EU MDR, NMPA, and Health Canada.
- English language proficiency at C1 level or higher.
- Valid authorization to travel to the United States.
