Ärztekasse in Genève seeks a System Engineer for its Platform team to manage virtual machines, ensure server security, and drive infrastructure automation.
This position sits within the Platform team at the company. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining the virtual datacenter, ensuring high availability and security, and leading the transition toward managed IaaS solutions.
Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and upkeep virtual machines and server environments, including Windows and Linux/RedHat systems.
- Guarantee the stability, speed, and security of the server infrastructure within the virtual datacenter.
- Handle patch management, system hardening, and the full lifecycle of server systems.
- Implement infrastructure as code to automate the provisioning and configuration of servers.
- Lead the shift from unmanaged virtual machines to those managed by an IaaS provider.
- Monitor system health and troubleshoot incidents to reduce downtime.
- Take part in a future on-call rotation schedule.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience in system or server engineering and administration.
- Deep expertise in administering Windows Server environments.
- Proven background in virtualization technologies and datacenter operations.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation, ideally using Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Solid understanding of security best practices and patch management procedures.
- Strong professional communication skills in English.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Linux, specifically RedHat.
- Basic familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Ability to communicate in German and French.
