Associate Director, Analysis & Design Delivery Lead

Novartis seeks an Associate Director, Analysis & Design Delivery Lead in Basel to drive the delivery and adoption of digital capabilities that transform experimental and computational data into scientific insights for biomedical research.

This position serves as the Delivery Lead for Analysis & Design, focusing on platforms that convert experimental and computational data into scientific insights. The role is responsible for driving the delivery and adoption of new and significantly enhanced digital capabilities for Biomedical Research. The position is based in Basel, CH, and is an onsite position.

Responsibilities

• Translate domain needs into initiative proposals and deliver such.
• Establish the vision, value proposition, and strategic roadmap for Analysis & Design capabilities in alignment with business priorities.
• Own the creation, delivery, and lifecycle transition of domain-specific software and assigned initiatives.
• Drive predictable planning and execution across initiatives within scope, time, and budget.
• Lead cross-functional matrix teams, coordinate resources, and define responsibilities.
• Proactively manage expectations and escalate issues, risks, or dependencies.
• Communicate progress, challenges, successes, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
• Ensure all initiative deliverables align with architectural standards, security guidelines, and governance models.
• Establish and maintain close relationships with other functions in Data & Digital and corporate IT.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience delivering scientific software, data, or informatics platforms.
• Proven track record of delivering complex initiatives in the Analysis & Design domain on time and within budget.
• Strong project management capabilities, especially prioritization, planning, execution, communication, and risk management.
• Experience leading cross-functional matrix teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups with strong communication skills.
• Working knowledge of how experimental and computational data is generated, managed, and consumed across drug discovery.
• Proven track record of delivering modern analysis and design capabilities via interactive AI/ML and agentic approaches.
• Proven ability to translate across scientific, technological, and data stakeholders.
• Skilled in structured problem-solving, experimentation, and modern delivery practices.

Nice to have

• Formal training in project management methodologies such as Project Management Professional or Certified Scrum Master.
• Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific research environments.
