Azure Cloud Engineer (English speaking)

PROSTAFF Schweiz GmbH seeks a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer in Zürich for a long-term internal project. The role focuses on Azure infrastructure, automation, and hybrid cloud operations.

The company is undertaking a significant, long-term internal cloud engineering initiative with a prominent consulting firm based in Zurich. This position is central to that effort, requiring an expert to manage and evolve the Azure cloud landscape.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the stability, security, and reliability of Azure cloud platforms, including a Swiss Sovereign Cloud setup.
• Design, deploy, and sustain Azure infrastructure and associated cloud services.
• Create and refine Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions utilizing Bicep.
• Develop and enhance cloud automation workflows using PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
• Oversee cloud operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Integrate business applications into Azure environments.
• Support hybrid cloud infrastructures spanning Windows and Linux systems.
• Take independent ownership of assigned technical workstreams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, application owners, and other stakeholders.
• Champion automation, operational excellence, and Azure best practices.

Requirements

• Several years of experience as an Azure Cloud Engineer, Azure Infrastructure Engineer, or in a similar capacity.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure administration and platform engineering.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
• Excellent knowledge of Azure DevOps.
• Excellent knowledge of Ansible.
• Excellent knowledge of PowerShell.
• Excellent knowledge of Python.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation.
• Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Good knowledge of Azure networking concepts.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and operational support capabilities.
• Ability to independently take ownership of technical initiatives.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English skills.
