Lonza seeks a Senior Chemist or Chemical Engineer to lead Downstream Processing (DSP) technologies in Visp, Switzerland. The role focuses on process improvement, technical leadership, and project management within a GMP environment.
This position serves as a senior scientific and technical authority for Downstream Processing (DSP) technologies. The incumbent is responsible for driving continuous improvement and innovation across both development and manufacturing stages, acting as a key expert in customer interactions and commercial settings.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance DSP technologies through innovation and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary technical and scientific expert for DSP matters during customer engagements and industry events.
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate DSP process development projects, providing leadership or support as needed.
- Facilitate the transfer of DSP manufacturing processes into Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) production facilities.
- Lead or assist in troubleshooting, investigations, and implementing process improvements.
- Define and support investment strategies regarding DSP equipment and technological advancements.
- Drive growth and innovation by managing end-to-end DSP projects from initiation to completion.
Requirements
- A PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
- Extensive professional experience in Downstream Processing (DSP) within the biopharmaceutical, chemical, or adjacent industries.
- Demonstrated proficiency with preparative HPLC (Prep HPLC) and chromatographic purification methods.
- Strong background in process development, scale-up activities, and technology transfer.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
