Deputy Head of Engineering (m/f)

Stadlerrail seeks a Deputy Head of Engineering in Białystok to lead electrical and electronic development for its expanding power converter factory, supporting global rail solutions.

This position supports the expansion of the power converter manufacturing facility, which supplies components to Stadler’s global production sites as well as external clients. The role serves as the second-in-command within the Engineering Department, focusing on electrical and electronic systems to ensure high-quality, compliant outputs for integrated rail-vehicle solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Engineering in leading the department, with a specific emphasis on electrical and electronic systems.
  • Direct the design, creation, and rollout of electrical solutions while meeting quality, technical, and timeline standards.
  • Lead engineering teams by handling resource allocation, assigning tasks, and fostering professional growth.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Project Management teams.
  • Participate in strategic planning and drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize engineering workflows.
  • Verify that all technical documentation and engineering practices adhere to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Track project status, spot potential technical risks, and implement corrective measures.
  • Act as the primary representative for Engineering in interactions with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Step in for the Head of Engineering to handle operational decisions and daily management duties.

Requirements

  • A university degree in a technical discipline, ideally Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership or deputy role within engineering or production, particularly with electrical components.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to guide teams, support senior management, and aid in technical and organizational decisions.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced industrial setting and contribute to optimization projects.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities to prioritize work, manage resources, and perform well under tight deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude with high accountability for solving technical and organizational issues.
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills.
  • An understanding of the economic factors influencing engineering projects and design choices.
  • Prior experience in power electronics development.
  • Background working within an Engineering Department, specifically focused on power electronics.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of the German language is considered a plus.
