Lightium AG seeks a Senior Enterprise Data & Systems Architect in Schlieren to lead data strategy, oversee cloud infrastructure, and mentor a technical team within its photonics startup.
This position serves as the technical backbone for the company’s data platform and enterprise systems. Reporting to the Operations team, the architect drives the overall data and systems strategy while managing and mentoring a small group of specialists.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the architecture and roadmap for the data platform, enterprise systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Ensure that decisions regarding the data warehouse, PLM, ERP, MES, and hardware/software infrastructure are cohesive and mutually reinforcing.
- Translate manufacturing and business requirements into a coherent systems strategy that guarantees data traceability.
- Develop and maintain high-level dashboards for leadership and operations to monitor key performance indicators.
- Oversee all cloud computing and storage solutions, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
- Design, build, and operate databases, data pipelines, transformation logic, orchestration tools, and lakehouse architectures.
- Establish data contracts, naming conventions, and quality standards.
- Manage IT and data security, including access control, encryption, backups, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Align systems and data landscapes with ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001 standards.
- Support export-control compliance (ITAR, US EAR, Swiss Goods Control Act) for sensitive data.
- Lead the implementation, rollout, and integration of Aras Innovator (PLM) and Oracle NetSuite (ERP).
- Drive end-to-end product and document lifecycle traceability.
- Identify suitable Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platforms, manage supplier tenders, and lead the integration with PLM, ERP, and the data platform.
- Maintain the automated wafer-scale test software built on OpenTAP.
- Define and maintain data-exchange protocols between various tools and systems.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and scaling of core infrastructure, including Linux servers and virtualization.
- Manage projects, contracts, and SLAs with external IT vendors and managed-service providers.
- Act as the technical reference and architect for the wider engineering community.
- Manage and mentor a small team of specialists and support hiring processes.
Requirements
- Degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related field.
- Strong track record in enterprise or solutions architecture.
- Ideally designed and built enterprise systems architectures from scratch.
- Hands-on experience with PLM (Aras Innovator or similar) and ERP systems.
- Track record leading automated/robotic production or testing lines.
- Strong database and data-engineering background.
- Hands-on with modern lakehouse and data platforms such as Databricks, Apache Iceberg, and Trino.
- Comfortable across both cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
- Solid grasp of data security, encryption, backups, and access control.
- Vendor and contract management experience.
- People-leadership experience with a track record of hiring, managing and mentoring technical staff.
- Fluency in English is required.

- Experience in a manufacturing or semiconductor environment.
- Familiarity with data-relevant standards (ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001) and export-control regimes.
- Proficiency in modern AI solutions.
- German or French language skills.
