Linux System Engineer

Crypto Finance, part of Deutsche Börse Group, seeks a Senior Linux System Engineer for onsite roles in Zurich or Frankfurt. The role involves maintaining scalable infrastructure, blockchain nodes, Kubernetes clusters, and secure backend systems. As a Senior Linux System Engineer, you will support the secure and scalable infrastructure behind their trading, custody, and wallet services, contributing to innovation in the fintech and blockchain space.

Responsibilities

• Expand and maintain a scalable, multi-data-center infrastructure including switches, firewalls, HSMs, physical and virtual servers, and cloud environments
• Support and enhance existing and new blockchain nodes
• Optimize and manage Kubernetes clusters
• Participate in hybrid infrastructure initiatives
• Ensure secure backend operations using HAProxy, Apache, Nginx, and database replication
• Enhance monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting systems using Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana
• Monitor live services for availability, latency, and system health
• Integrate secure technologies and applications into the infrastructure
• Manage patching and deployment of new firmware and software
• Create and maintain infrastructure documentation in code and data formats
• Stay current with emerging technologies and cloud-native environments

Requirements

• A computer science degree or at least 5 years of systems engineering experience
• Strong, hands-on Linux system administration skills
• Interest in servers, automation, and IT security
• Enthusiasm for open-source software
• Networking expertise including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network protocols
• Familiarity with open-source tools such as Linux, Unix, HAProxy, Nginx, Apache, Squid, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, Grafana, Ansible, and Docker
• Proven experience in systems engineering and defensive security, including DDoS protection and intrusion prevention
• Strong project management and organizational abilities
• High integrity and focus on quality
• Excellent English language skills

Nice to have

• Linux certifications such as LFCS, LFCE, or RHCS
• Experience with cloud platforms like Azure or GCP
• German language skills are beneficial
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies and crypto assets is advantageous
