CERN seeks an Entry Level Maintenance Support Technician for its cryogenics team in Geneva. The role involves data consolidation, maintenance coordination, and supporting Long Shutdown 3 preparations.
This position sits within the Maintenance Methods and Logistics section of the Technology Department's cryogenics maintenance team. The incumbent will help prepare for the upcoming technical shutdown, integrate new major assets, and oversee the organizational aspects of Long Shutdown 3 for the cryogenics infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Gather and consolidate maintenance records within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist in planning and coordinating on-site maintenance tasks.
- Implement new maintenance procedures alongside field technicians.
- Improve work instructions, checklists, and quality assurance protocols for contractors.
- Help apply maintenance policies and best practices to new cryogenic assets for the HL-LHC project.
Requirements
- Possess basic mechanical and electrical competencies.
- Have prior experience operating a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Be able to interpret technical drawings.
- Understand maintenance documentation standards.
- Showcase teamwork, safety consciousness, and problem-solving abilities.
- Be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- Have no more than two years of professional experience since graduating in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Hold a general secondary education diploma as the highest qualification.
- Have never held a CERN fellow or graduate contract previously.
- Be fluent in spoken and written English or French.
- Hold a valid driving licence.
- Secure medical clearance before a contract offer is finalized.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with cryogenics fundamentals or oil and gas systems.
- A willingness to learn the other language (English or French).
