Lonza seeks a Manufacturing Specialist for its new biotech plant in Visp, Switzerland. The role supports vaccine production setup and routine operations in a full-time, onsite position.
This position is part of the project team building a new biotechnological production facility in Visp. The specialist will help transition the site from construction to routine vaccine manufacturing, supporting all experience levels.
Responsibilities
- Help the project team design and establish advanced vaccine manufacturing workflows.
- Work with the team to qualify and validate new production zones and methods.
- Carry out manufacturing tasks in Upstream Processing, Downstream Processing, or Bioconjugates, following cGMP and SOP standards.
- Manage batch production, analyze test outcomes, fix equipment issues, and suggest solutions.
- Prepare risk assessments for safety, environment, and operations, and implement necessary measures.
- Draft documentation like electronic batch records and standard operating procedures for the assigned area.
- Review production records, handle deviations, manage change requests, and execute CAPAs to maintain GMP quality.
- Act as a manufacturing expert during capital investment projects for new unit construction and commissioning.
- Provide all necessary inputs for setting up, commissioning, and qualifying manufacturing suites and equipment.
- Train manufacturing staff on specific equipment and standard operations.
Requirements
- Completed education or training in chemical or biopharmaceutical fields.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of biotechnological processes, including microbial/mammalian cultivation, protein purification, or Bioconjugates.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a 4-shift system.
Nice to have
- Fluency in German is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of GMP regulations is beneficial.
