The University of Zurich seeks a PhD candidate in Business Administration to research how leader diversity affects the self-disclosure of flaws in the workplace.
This position is based within the Center for Leadership in the Future of Work at the University of Zurich. The successful candidate will lead a research project investigating the impact of leader diversity on the willingness of managers to admit mistakes and vulnerabilities in professional settings.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute research studies, aiming for publication in leading academic journals focused on organizational behavior and human resource management.
- Support the teaching of courses related to organizational behavior, human resource management, and general management.
- Mentor and supervise both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Participate in science communication activities organized by the Center for Leadership in the Future of Work.
Requirements
- Hold an excellent Master’s degree or equivalent in Business, Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
- Have completed coursework in organizational behavior, industrial/organizational psychology, or social psychology.
- Demonstrate excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- Possess a strong grasp of quantitative methodologies, including experimental design and statistical analysis.
- Be proficient in statistical software such as R, Mplus, Stata, or SPSS.
- Show strong technical competence with Microsoft Office applications.
- Exhibit a genuine passion for academic research.
- Work effectively in a team environment with a collaborative attitude.
Nice to have
- Experience with qualitative or mixed-methods approaches, or a strong desire to learn these techniques.
- Basic coding abilities.
- Prior experience in research roles, such as serving as a research assistant during previous studies.
- An interest in science communication, particularly regarding research with practical applications.
