This position focuses on developing and executing self-optimizing laboratory experiments for plastic recycling. The successful candidate will work closely with a doctoral peer handling predictive simulations, while also contributing to broader research goals through mentoring and academic dissemination.
Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct innovative experiments leveraging microfluidics, spectroscopy, and algorithmic automation.
- Explore phase equilibria and transport phenomena within liquid mixtures.
- Collaborate closely with a doctoral colleague specializing in predictive simulation methods.
- Provide mentorship and co-supervision for student projects and theses.
- Participate in various group and institute activities.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
Requirements
- Fulfill the admission criteria for a doctoral program at ETH Zurich.
- Hold an outstanding Master's or diploma in chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, energy science & technology, physical chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate hands-on experimental experience, particularly with microfluidics and spectroscopy setup.
- Show interest and capability in creating model-based approaches for experimental design and analysis.
- Exhibit strong motivation to acquire and utilize contemporary experimental and simulation techniques.
- Work autonomously and effectively.
- Possess excellent English communication and writing abilities.
