This position requires an expert to direct the Department of Traumatology while leading a dedicated research group. The role focuses on advancing medical science through translational research that bridges basic studies and clinical practice, supported by the university's strong ecosystem in Zürich.
Responsibilities
- Direct the operations and strategic vision of the Department of Traumatology.
- Manage and guide a specialized research team.
- Secure external grants and competitive funding for research projects.
- Deliver educational sessions and lectures for students.
- Oversee the completion of academic theses by students.
- Mentor and support the professional development of early-career scientists.
- Execute high-quality research adhering to Open Science standards.
- Collaborate with other medical disciplines at USZ and University Hospital Balgrist.
Requirements
- Proven clinical and scientific background in traumatology, with a focus on polytrauma research and patient care.
- Possession of a habilitation or an equivalent academic credential.
- Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology of the Musculoskeletal System.
- Subspecialty certification in spinal surgery or an internationally recognized equivalent.
- Prior experience in a leadership or deputy leadership role within a university hospital department.
- German language proficiency at B2 level, or the ability to achieve it within a set timeframe.
