Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Director of Quality Systems in Schaffhausen to lead global QMS strategy, technology roadmaps, and team development within the Innovative Medicine division.

Reporting to the Vice President of Quality Management & Digital for Innovative Medicine, this senior leadership position is tasked with defining and executing the strategic vision for the company’s Quality Management System technology. The role ensures that core systems and enabling platforms are effectively operated, sustained, and continuously improved to support global quality operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the global strategy, investment roadmap, and governance framework for Quality Management Systems.
  • Direct the planning, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of QMS initiatives and associated technology investments.
  • Act as the primary business owner for essential QMS platforms, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS), and quality workflow tools.
  • Collaborate with Global Process Owners, Enterprise Quality teams, and regional stakeholders to ensure system capabilities align with operational requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance on strategic system investments, ensuring strict adherence to GxP regulations, computerized system validation standards, and internal quality protocols.
  • Design scalable support and operational service models that promote consistent, efficient, and compliant quality management practices.
  • Represent the Innovative Medicine Quality Systems function in enterprise-wide transformation projects, governance committees, and executive discussions.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a global team, cultivating a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.
  • Track internal and external industry trends in quality systems and digital capabilities to identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, and innovation.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, metrics, and leadership reports to provide clear visibility into system performance, investment status, risks, and strategic opportunities.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Possess at least 12 years of relevant experience in Quality Systems, Quality Operations, digital quality, program management, transformation leadership, or a similar regulated sector.
  • Have practical experience with Quality Management System platforms and solutions that support GxP processes.
  • Demonstrate a track record of shaping system roadmaps, leading technology investments, and converting business needs into actionable plans.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of quality systems, regulatory expectations, computerized system validation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Show proven ability to influence senior leaders, global teams, and matrixed stakeholders to drive alignment and change.
  • Display strong strategic thinking, communication, presentation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Have experience leading teams, developing talent, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance work environment.
  • Be capable of managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results within a complex, global organizational structure.

Nice to have

  • An advanced degree such as an M.S., MBA, Ph.D., or Pharm.D. is preferred.
  • Experience working in the pharmaceuticals, healthcare, medical technology, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with QMS platforms such as Veeva, TrackWise, ComplianceWire, EDMS, or LMS.
  • Experience partnering with digital, technology, process ownership, and quality organizations to deliver enterprise-scale transformation.
  • Background in developing metrics, dashboards, and executive-level updates to support decision-making and governance.
