Senior Legal Counsel, IM Supply Chain

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Legal Counsel in Allschwil to manage complex supply chain contracts for its Innovative Medicine division, covering clinical to commercial phases.

This position sits within the Global Legal Organization in Allschwil, Switzerland. The primary focus is overseeing the creation, negotiation, and management of contracts for the Innovative Medicine Supply Chain Legal team. The successful candidate will handle intricate supply chain transactions across the Biotherapeutics platform, spanning from clinical development through to commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the drafting and negotiation of supply chain agreements.
• Handle contracts for the procurement of drug delivery devices, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and packaging materials for various therapy types, including large and small molecules, working with third-party suppliers.
• Draft or supervise the creation of complex research and development agreements for clinical supply programs, such as Master Service Agreements, Research Collaboration Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, and Confidentiality Agreements.
• Collaborate effectively with the team, supporting shared priorities and taking ownership of team objectives and programs.
• Manage external legal counsel and associated budgets when necessary.
• Identify and implement best practices to streamline contracting processes, enhancing timeliness, accuracy, and overall quality.

Requirements

• Hold a Juris Doctorate or an equivalent law degree.
• Be a licensed attorney admitted to the bar in at least one US State or the District of Columbia, or hold a law degree with bar admission in Europe.
• Possess a minimum of seven years of legal experience.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of current laws, regulations, and industry standards related to R&D and intellectual property in the life-sciences sector.
• Exhibit a thorough understanding of contract law, supported by strong drafting and negotiation capabilities.
• Be fluent in English, with the ability to draft contract terms and conditions in this language.

Nice to have

• Prior experience as in-house counsel in the life-sciences industry or as an attorney in a life-sciences practice at a large or mid-size law firm.
• Additional degrees or a Master of Laws (LLM) are considered advantageous.
