Lonza seeks a Senior Operational Buyer in Visp to lead procurement for key portfolios, manage supplier relationships, and drive supply chain digitalization within a hybrid work model.
The company is looking for a Senior Operational Buyer to join its expanding Supply Chain team in Visp. In this position, the successful candidate will oversee procurement for specific product portfolios, cultivate strong partnerships with vendors, and play a central role in modernizing supply chain processes. By collaborating with various internal departments, the role ensures uninterrupted material flow, enhances vendor performance, and supports the site's growth through digital initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate purchasing activities for designated portfolios to guarantee supply stability, cost efficiency, and adherence to internal standards.
- Mentor and guide junior buyers by establishing clear priorities, refining processes, and sharing best practices in procurement.
- Execute Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategies, including conducting regular business reviews, tracking performance metrics, and implementing continuous improvement plans.
- Monitor vendor performance to identify and address gaps in delivery reliability, quality, service levels, and regulatory compliance.
- Champion digitalization and standardization efforts within the procurement function, ensuring optimal utilization of SAP and other relevant tools.
- Partner with Planning, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Finance, and other teams to align procurement activities with broader operational and supply chain goals.
- Participate in supply chain transformation projects, such as material master data creation, supplier onboarding, certificate management, logistics optimization, and invoicing process improvements.
Requirements
- A university degree or equivalent professional experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated background in SCM and Procurement, with preference given to candidates from regulated industries.
- Solid working knowledge of SAP MM ERP modules and MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, along with effective presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is mandatory for this role.
