Lonza seeks an Operational Buyer in Visp to manage supplier performance and material supply for Life Sciences innovations. This hybrid role requires SCM expertise and SAP proficiency.
The company is expanding its Supply Chain team in Visp and needs an Operational Buyer to secure the steady flow of materials essential for developing Life Sciences breakthroughs. The position is primarily on-site, allowing for remote work up to 20% of the time, and focuses on maintaining reliable supplier relationships and procurement processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee raw material supplier performance to guarantee the Material Requirement Plan is met.
- Collaborate with global teams and local stakeholders to drive Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives.
- Keep Procurement Master Data accurate in SAP to support reliable MRP calculations and purchase order generation.
- Address quality claims, vendor returns, cost recoveries, and replacements.
- Resolve Level 2 vendor blocking issues.
- Conduct negotiations for low-value supplier contracts.
- Assist category managers and strategic buyers in executing supply strategies.
- Partner with IBIO Supply Chain teams to ensure operational continuity and demand coverage.
- Provide training and mentorship to new hires and junior staff.
Requirements
- A degree or equivalent professional experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated background in SCM and Procurement, ideally within a regulated sector.
- Strong proficiency in SAP MM ERP and MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with strong presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.

- Knowledge of the German language is considered a plus.
