Idorsia seeks a Team Leader for Compound Management in Basel to oversee daily production, automation, and library management within the Research Division.
This position is embedded within the HTS and Lead Discovery Group of the Research Division. The role focuses on managing routine operational processes to ensure continuous research activity while handling project-specific tasks that require a scientific approach.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily production of quality-controlled DMSO solution aliquots and handle the fulfillment of powder and solution orders.
- Manage the reception, registration, manual picking, and storage of building blocks in strict compliance with Swiss safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain ChemShop, the central supply center for medicinal chemistry building blocks.
- Physically create new screening libraries and produce assay-ready plates for HTS teams for each screening campaign.
- Support the development of automated workflows for compound preparation to improve throughput and efficiency.
- Serve on the Compound Library Committee to guide the evolution of screening libraries.
- Operate, maintain, and develop the team’s diverse automation platforms.
- Collaborate with the corporate IT team to improve software applications.
- Foster a customer service and quality-oriented mindset within the team to minimize service breakdowns.
Requirements
- University degree in chemistry or pharmaceutical science.
- Several years of professional experience in industrial drug discovery or an academic screening center.
- Strong team management and communication skills in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in English.
- Advanced lab automation experience.
- Familiarity with medicinal chemistry needs.
- Ability to perform hands-on lab work.
