Lab Automation & Logistics Delivery Lead

Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG seeks a Senior Lab Automation & Logistics Delivery Lead in Basel to drive scalable, efficient lab and logistics processes across Biomedical Research through automation, AI, and workflow orchestration.

This position focuses on integrating lab devices and systems while orchestrating workflows across various teams and platforms. The role is responsible for implementing automation solutions, including RPA and AI, to enhance sample ordering, production, and logistics processes. It also ensures that all workflow designs and executions comply with necessary standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete delivery of lab automation and workflow orchestration projects.
• Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets to ensure high-quality results, while coordinating cross-functional teams and aligning with stakeholders and D&D functions.
• Identify process inefficiencies and convert business requirements into scalable automation solutions using RPA, orchestration, and AI.
• Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, fostering strong relationships, aligning goals, and providing clear updates on progress, risks, and outcomes.
• Ensure all solutions adhere to architectural, security, and regulatory standards, maintaining alignment with enterprise platforms and data integrity requirements.

Requirements

• Hold a Master's or PhD in a scientific, technological, computational, or data science field.
• Possess over a decade of experience in multidisciplinary settings within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrate a track record of successfully delivering complex projects end-to-end, meeting quality, timeline, and budget expectations in lab, data, or digital areas.
• Exhibit strong project management skills, including prioritization, planning, execution, communication, and risk management, with the ability to handle dependencies across multiple teams and systems.
• Show experience leading cross-functional matrix teams, effectively coordinating diverse stakeholders and driving aligned execution.
• Display excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities, acting as a trusted delivery partner for both business and technical audiences.
• Have solid domain and digital expertise, including an understanding of lab operations, scientific systems, and hands-on knowledge of workflow automation, RPA, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Demonstrate strong systems thinking and an automation mindset, identifying optimization opportunities and applying appropriate approaches to deliver scalable solutions.
