Lonza seeks a Waste Logistics Expert in Visp to oversee waste management operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the Waste Logistics Manager in a senior, hybrid role.
This senior position functions as a key specialist and primary deputy for the Waste Logistics Manager. The role ensures high-quality waste management services that satisfy stakeholder needs, regulatory standards, and operational goals. The expert serves as a central link between production sites, laboratories, safety teams, supply chain operations, and strategic growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage waste-related activities across multiple facilities with both operational and strategic oversight.
- Guarantee full compliance with GMP, safety protocols, and environmental rules, including conducting thorough risk evaluations.
- Serve as the main liaison for internal departments like Production, EHS, and Engineering, as well as external waste disposal vendors.
- Track material disposability and establish backup disposal routes to avoid workflow interruptions.
- Unify waste processes across departments and apply technology or data methods to boost efficiency.
- Track KPIs, produce detailed reports, and identify actionable steps to enhance recycling and sustainable practices.
- Assist and represent the Waste Logistics Manager during strategic initiatives and routine management duties.
Requirements
- A degree in Chemical/Pharma Technology, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Waste Management, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 10 years in chemical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing, or substantial operational experience in complex logistics.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations (SECO, SUVA, EKAS), GMP standards, and hazardous material handling.
- Familiarity with ERP and logistics platforms like SAP, TrackWise, Syncrotess, or comparable systems.
- Strong IT and data analysis skills, especially with MS Office, PowerBI, and contemporary reporting software.
- Excellent analytical abilities, resilience, and the capacity to lead and mentor teams in a deputy role.
- Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for effective cross-functional communication.
