Associate Director, Search & Evaluation (Immunology)

Novartis seeks an Associate Director for Search & Evaluation in Immunology to identify and assess novel therapeutics, build strategic partnerships, and drive growth in Basel with a hybrid work model.

This position focuses on discovering and evaluating new treatment options to improve care for patients with immunological conditions. The role serves as a key representative for the Immunology Therapeutic Area, acting as a central contact for external collaboration. It is essential for finding high-value opportunities, establishing strategic alliances, and supporting growth through data-driven choices.

Responsibilities

• Find and assess external treatment options that match the Immunology strategy throughout the development process.
• Manage search efforts and prioritize opportunities using deep expertise in immunology.
• Create and study competitive landscapes and innovation ecosystems to guide sourcing and decisions.
• Perform triage and due diligence on incoming opportunities, providing clear documentation and structured recommendations.
• Work with cross-functional teams to prepare materials for governance reviews and deal execution.
• Connect with stakeholders in research, commercial, and corporate development to ensure alignment and informed decisions.
• Present strategic opportunities to senior leadership and help build internal consensus.
• Represent Novartis at industry conferences and external meetings to strengthen partnerships and market visibility.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in life sciences.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, preferably in business development, strategy, consulting, or research.
• Strong understanding of drug discovery, clinical development, and emerging therapeutic concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex scientific data and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
• Proven experience collaborating across cross-functional teams in a matrixed global organization.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to influence senior leadership.
