Associate Director, Search & Evaluation (Immunology)

Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG seeks an Associate Director for Search & Evaluation in Immunology (Basel, hybrid) to identify, assess, and partner on novel therapeutic opportunities that advance patient care.

This position serves as a central figure for the Immunology Therapeutic Area, responsible for sourcing and assessing external innovations that could reshape medical treatment. The role acts as a key liaison for external partnerships, driving strategic growth by uncovering high-impact opportunities and guiding informed decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Source and assess external therapeutic candidates that align with the Immunology strategy throughout the development lifecycle.
• Manage search processes, triage, and prioritization by applying deep immunology expertise to support business development and licensing goals.
• Map competitive landscapes and innovation ecosystems to guide sourcing strategies and support decision-making.
• Perform triage and due diligence on incoming opportunities, providing structured documentation and clear recommendations.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop materials for governance reviews and facilitate deal execution.
• Engage with research, commercial, and corporate development teams to ensure alignment and support informed decisions.
• Present strategic opportunities to senior leadership and help build internal consensus.
• Represent the company at industry events and external meetings to enhance partnerships and visibility.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in life sciences.
• Professional experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector, ideally in business development, strategy, consulting, or research roles within a company or with healthcare clients.
• Solid grasp of drug discovery, clinical development, and emerging therapeutic concepts.
• Ability to analyze complex scientific data and convert insights into strategic recommendations.
• Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams in a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.

• Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: CHF 129.500 - CHF 240.500
