Translational Medicine Expert - Dermatology, Associate Director

The company seeks an Associate Director in Translational Medicine for Dermatology to lead drug development strategies from research through to late-phase trials and post-approval profiling in Basel.
This position serves as a central leader for the Translational Medicine Drug Development Program (TMDP) within dermatology. The expert will shape strategies for drug development across various stages, from initial research to late-phase trials, and will represent the function on global project teams to secure funding and define clinical pathways.
Responsibilities
Create comprehensive plans for the translational medicine aspects of drug development programs, covering the entire journey from early research to late-stage development, including post-indication expansion initiatives.
Serve as a primary leader in formulating Phase 2-3 and post-approval profiling strategies for drug programs, acting as the TMDP representative on Global Project Teams alongside other translational medicine functions.
Offer guidance on dose selection, clinical study design, and other clinical pharmacology topics throughout the development lifecycle.
Manage the execution and analysis of key studies that support pivotal trials, such as assessments of special populations, drug-drug interactions, mechanisms of action, and pediatric investigation plans.
Formulate approaches to discover new or expanded indications and gather the necessary evidence to secure funding for these concepts.
Join Business Development and Licensing teams as the translational medicine representative.
Handle clinical monitoring and the review of integrated safety data during and after the active phase of studies.
Deliver medical and scientific leadership to all line functions within the study team.
Present clinical translational medicine perspectives to health authorities and external stakeholders, including payers and patient advocacy groups.
Direct the publication strategy for translational medicine studies, lead the writing of scientific papers, and present findings externally when suitable.
Guide study-specific and clinical trial teams in collaboration with other line functions.
Head Business Review sub-teams on Global Project Teams for late-phase programs.
Requirements
A doctoral degree, preferably a Ph.D. in dermatology or immunology, or an MD with board certification in dermatology.
Minimum of five years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech company, a contract research organization, an academic medical center, or a related field.
Fluent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
