The company is seeking a Director-level Immunology Therapeutic Area Biomarker Lead based in Basel, Switzerland, to drive biomarker strategy and lead translational data science initiatives within a hybrid work model.
This position serves as a scientific, strategic, and tactical leader responsible for developing impactful biomarker strategies at the project level. The role involves co-leading working groups that integrate large-scale molecular and clinical patient datasets, while representing the Biomarker Medical Department on various Disease Area Initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage biomarker strategies across projects, indications, and individual studies.
- Direct a matrixed team of biomarker subject matter experts and project representatives.
- Oversee the concept, endorsement, implementation, delivery, and contextualization of biomarker strategies.
- Interpret biomarker results and share conclusions with external audiences through abstracts and peer-reviewed publications.
- Collaborate with other TABLs to identify synergies and drive innovation.
- Execute strategies in close collaboration with the global Biomarker Medical Department organization.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Life Sciences.
- Minimum of five years of industry experience in pharmaceutical or biotech sectors, specifically working on clinical trials.
- Demonstrated scientific excellence in immunological diseases within translational and biomarker fields.
- Expertise in using biomarkers for clinical decision-making, including pharmacodynamics, clinical efficacy, disease deconvolution, response characterization, patient stratification, and precision medicine.
- Experience interpreting and disseminating omics-related findings such as genetics, genomics, and proteomics.
- A track record of high-quality scientific publications.
- Prior experience in a similar role within a pharmaceutical/biotech research company, clinical research organization, or academic medical center.
- Proven success in leading and partnering in multidisciplinary matrix teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with senior leadership.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in additional languages such as German, French, or Italian is advantageous but not mandatory.
