Associate Director, Therapeutic Area Communications

Novartis seeks an Associate Director for Therapeutic Area Communications in Basel to lead integrated communications strategies, manage brand narratives, and partner with cross-functional teams in a hybrid role.

This position focuses on developing and executing comprehensive communications strategies that align with brand and therapeutic area objectives. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams to identify key opportunities for communication impact, managing brand narratives, and ensuring alignment with business goals while navigating regulatory and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement integrated communication plans grounded in market analysis, audience insights, and industry trends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional development and commercial teams to pinpoint where communications can most effectively support brand and therapeutic area strategies.
• Integrate expertise from media relations, digital marketing, internal communications, patient advocacy, and analytics to advance key communication milestones.
• Lead storytelling initiatives for brands and disease states, optimizing for evolving communication landscapes including AEO.
• Oversee reputation risk management for Novartis and associated brands.
• Generate ongoing reports to assess communication strategy impact against business objectives.
• Ensure all activities comply with legal, regulatory, and compliance standards while maintaining high execution quality.
• Manage communication budgets efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 7 years of communications experience, with substantial background in brand communications, including data and regulatory milestones.
• Experience managing agency partners and budgets.
• Crisis and issues management capabilities.
