Bioprocess Engineer Mammalian (USP/DSP)

This position sits within the Mammalian Business Division at Lonza's Visp facility in Switzerland. The role is designed to support the company's ongoing expansion of manufacturing capacity and plays a direct, long-term part in managing global pandemic responses.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical and commercial manufacturing activities to ensure they meet safety and quality standards while staying on schedule.
• Serve as the functional lead for preparation, manufacturing execution, cleaning, and changeover procedures in the assigned area.
• Manage one or more Upstream Processing (USP) areas responsible for producing therapeutic proteins.
• Oversee one or more Downstream Processing (DSP) areas dedicated to purifying therapeutic proteins.

Requirements

• Hold a Master's degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Life Science field, or possess a Bachelor's degree alongside relevant pharma production experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge of either Upstream Processing (e.g., bioreactors) or Downstream Processing (e.g., chromatography) units.
• Have several years of hands-on experience in biomanufacturing.
• Understand bioprocess technology and have practical experience working under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations.
• Communicate effectively in English.
