MSAT Process Expert Mammalian Upstream Large-Scale (m/f/d)

Lonza seeks a Senior Process Expert for mammalian upstream and downstream manufacturing at its Visp, Switzerland site, focusing on large-scale process optimization and technology transfer.

This position serves as a Process Owner within Lonza’s Biologics organization in Visp, Switzerland. The role is dedicated to the large-scale manufacturing of drug substances, handling volumes up to 20,000 liters across both upstream and downstream stages. The expert is responsible for scaling up, supervising, and optimizing mammalian processes to ensure successful production outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Direct cross-functional teams to manage technology transfers, including process design and up-scaling, ensuring timely implementation at manufacturing scale.
• Serve as the primary liaison between process donors (such as customers or process development teams) and the manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with customers throughout campaign preparation, execution, and closure, providing regular updates on batch status and process performance.
• Address and resolve manufacturing process issues while strictly adhering to all regulatory requirements.
• Ensure successful technology transfers by utilizing standardized tools and processes to manage information exchange, mitigate process-related risks, and handle change control.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, or possess equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrate substantial experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and/or process development, with a preference for large-scale mammalian manufacturing.
• Possess a solid understanding of bioprocess technology and practical experience working within Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills in English and/or German.
