Merck (Schweiz) AG seeks a Senior Clinical Site Management Excellence Lead in Eysins to drive global harmonization and operational excellence in clinical trial monitoring and site oversight.

This position serves as a strategic and operational leader tasked with ensuring that clinical monitoring and site management practices are globally aligned, ready for inspections, and adaptable to modern trial models. The role acts as an internal consultant and transformation partner, collaborating closely with Regional and Cluster Heads, GDO peers, and study teams to elevate standards across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes the framework for site management to support the clinical monitoring strategy from initial site activation through final close-out.
  • Facilitates communication and coordination among various functions and study sites at country, regional, cluster, and global levels.
  • Designs and implements scalable, efficient processes for clinical monitoring and site management that comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Collaborates with technology and digital teams to define system requirements and promote the adoption of new tools.
  • Utilizes data-driven analysis to convert performance metrics into actionable process improvements.

Requirements

  • Possesses an advanced degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Clinical Research, or a related discipline, or holds equivalent professional experience.
  • Brings over 12 years of clinical research experience, with specialized expertise in site management and clinical monitoring within global settings.
  • Demonstrates a history of managing end-to-end clinical processes, including design, documentation, performance oversight, and continuous improvement in regulated environments.
  • Exhibits deep knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines, particularly ICH E6(R3), and applies Quality by Design and risk-based quality management principles.
  • Has successfully led cross-functional initiatives in complex matrix organizations, building alignment across diverse teams, CROs, and vendors without direct authority.
  • Thrives in a global, multicultural environment and is willing to travel internationally up to 20% of the time.
