CNC Machinist

Pyrotek SA seeks a Mid-level CNC Machinist for on-site work in Switzerland. The role focuses on operating CNC equipment, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring quality standards while supporting team development.

As a key member of Pyrotek SA's manufacturing team, the CNC Machinist will drive daily production by setting up and running computer numerical control equipment. This position supports the company's mission to develop advanced materials by transforming engineering plans into precise, high-quality components through skilled machining and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Work the second shift schedule from Monday through Thursday, 2:45 PM to 12:45 AM.
• Set up and operate CNC machinery to produce parts while adhering to safety and quality protocols.
• Review work orders, blueprints, and engineering specifications to plan machining tasks and determine necessary parameters.
• Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) accurately to ensure part compliance.
• Perform mathematical calculations involving geometry and trigonometry, and verify parts using G-code or conversational programming.
• Install and adjust machine components such as chucks, tools, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
• Execute machining operations including drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, adjust controls, reprogram machines, and replace worn tools as needed.
• Operate and maintain auxiliary equipment like conventional mills, drill presses, and band saws.
• Train and instruct CNC Operator Assistants on operational procedures and inspection standards.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery, follow manufacturer guidelines, and report malfunctions for repair.
• Document shift activities, irregularities, and ongoing requirements to ensure continuity between work periods.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of experience as a CNC Operator Assistant, or a comparable mix of education and hands-on experience.
• Strong ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting work instructions, set up sheets, packaging guidelines, and technical drawings.
• Basic computer literacy combined with solid knowledge of machine setup, tooling, and blueprint reading.
• Familiarity with CNC automated controls and the PWS system for navigating operational, inspection, and packaging details.
• Demonstrated skill in using dimensional measuring tools and equipment to ensure machining accuracy.
• Ability to handle proprietary and confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
• Capacity to work independently, solve problems without constant supervision, and utilize available resources efficiently.
• Competent in high school-level mathematics, including arithmetic operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, as well as calculating rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.
