Data Protection Manager (m/f/d)

SCHURTER AG seeks a Senior Data Protection Manager in Luzern to lead privacy compliance, implement GDPR/nDSG standards, and embed privacy principles across global business functions.

The company is looking for a senior professional to drive the implementation and ongoing improvement of data protection frameworks within its legal entities and business units. This position requires partnering with IT, legal, and project teams to integrate Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default into daily operations and new initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage core privacy workflows, including maintaining Records of Processing Activities, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments, handling data subject requests, and evaluating personal data breaches.
  • Work with Legal, Procurement, IT, and business units to finalize data processing agreements, manage international data transfers, and address privacy-related contractual issues.
  • Create practical policies, templates, guidelines, and standards that ensure regulatory compliance while supporting operational efficiency.
  • Support privacy reporting, internal audits, maturity assessments, and data governance projects to encourage responsible data handling.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Law, Business Administration, Information Management, Computer Science, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in data protection, privacy compliance, compliance management, or data governance.
  • Fluent proficiency in both German and English.
  • Solid practical understanding of the GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG).
  • Hands-on experience with RoPA, DPIAs, data subject requests, privacy notices, retention strategies, and third-party assessments.
  • Possession of a data protection certification such as IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, or an equivalent credential.
  • A good grasp of IT systems, data flows, and security concepts.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the UK GDPR.
  • Experience using M365, SAP, DPMS, or other compliance tools.
