Clariant International AG seeks a senior Finance Specialist in Pratteln, CH. This role partners with the local Finance Lead, overseeing Swiss financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls.
Acting as the deputy to the Finance Lead Switzerland, this position is central to the local finance team. The specialist ensures rigorous financial reporting, tax management, and internal control standards across Swiss legal entities, serving as the primary liaison for accounting matters and external audits.
Responsibilities
- Produce month-end financial reporting packages adhering to IFRS and Swiss GAAP standards.
- Maintain Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICoFR) to guarantee ongoing compliance and data accuracy.
- Perform regular valuations of equity investments and execute tax assessments according to local GAAP.
- Direct tax management activities for Switzerland, including supervision of external tax advisors.
- Serve as the main contact for accounting issues and Global Business Services (GBS) matters concerning Swiss entities.
- Coordinate external audits, acting as the primary interface with auditing firms.
- Align financial activities with corporate directives, local management goals, and fiscal regulations.
- Oversee master data management for Switzerland, including cost centers and allocation cycles.
- Drive controlling initiatives in close cooperation with the Finance Lead Switzerland.
- Ensure operational continuity by stepping in as deputy when the Finance Lead is unavailable.
- Maintain compliance with Swiss and EU VAT regulations while navigating OECD standards and international tax frameworks.
- Collaborate with GBS hubs and cross-functional teams in an intercultural setting.
Requirements
- University degree in Business Administration plus professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant, Tax Adviser, or Trustee.
- At least 10 years of experience in statutory accounting and tax legislation.
- Proven track record of closing books under both IFRS and local GAAP.
- Deep expertise in Swiss and international tax laws, including OECD frameworks and VAT regulations.
- Advanced skills in SAP and Microsoft Excel, with strong general IT proficiency.
- Fluent verbal and written command of German and English.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and make decisive actions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an inclusive, collaborative approach to intercultural teamwork.
- Experience in management representation and engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Capacity to prioritize effectively and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
