Roche is seeking a Group Head, Safety Data Acquisition and Partnering in Basel to lead strategic collaborations, governance, and the upstream safety data supply chain in a high-performing, agile team.
In this role, you will oversee the strategic partnerships and governance of the Patient Safety Operations Front-End pillar. The position merges external asset integration with the management of the upstream safety data supply chain, requiring close collaboration across data sources and therapeutic modalities to implement advanced automation and AI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute operational strategies that support global safety objectives and wider company goals.
- Foster an agile work environment that promotes self-organization, innovation, and independent decision-making within the team.
- Lead the development and negotiation of safety agreements, ensuring efficient data integration and sharing with external partners.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders during company and molecule acquisitions to evaluate and address contractual needs early.
- Provide specialized guidance on safety agreement strategies for various arrangements, including licensing, clinical trials, and PV service providers.
- Collaborate globally to explore how AI, cognitive computing, and automation can improve safety data acquisition processes.
- Partner with Affiliates, Pharma, and Diagnostics to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality safety data while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
- Oversee Quality Management System (QMS) processes to keep operations fully inspection-ready at all times.
- Maintain deep process expertise within the team, particularly among Business Process Owners (BPOs), ensuring consistent application of critical knowledge across the organization.
Requirements
- Extensive background in pharmacovigilance systems, operations, and global PV regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in safety contract management and negotiating agreements across diverse stakeholder environments.
- Proven success in leading, coaching, and empowering high-performing teams in multicultural settings using agile methods.
- Strong understanding of digital health systems and technical advancements, especially regarding AI and cognitive computing applications in data workflows.
- Excellent communication abilities to influence senior leadership and drive decisions without direct authority.
- A degree in a relevant Life Science or data science field (MSc, PhD, or equivalent strongly preferred).
