Roche seeks a Senior Group Director for Safety Development & Processes in Basel, CH. This full-time, hybrid leadership role oversees global safety strategy, process design, and team development within the pharmacovigilance domain.
The company is looking for a strategic leader to guide a global team focused on safety development, innovation, and process design. This position ensures that safety-critical workflows align with business goals and continuously improve, while adapting to evolving customer needs and maintaining robust governance across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct leadership and coaching to a worldwide team to maximize individual potential and well-being.
- Establishes and communicates a clear vision and strategy for Safety Development & Processes, ensuring alignment with broader enterprise and pharmacovigilance objectives.
- Collaborates closely with various Pharma functions to address emerging, critical business needs.
- Anticipates and implements improved scientific workflows and effective safety processes to support consistent operations.
- May serve as a formal representative on compliance governance bodies, such as the GxP Council.
- Manages recruitment, onboarding, and strategic deployment of resources across multiple locations based on business priorities.
- Maintains strong relationships with R&D stakeholders and contributes to leadership efforts in scenario planning, prioritization, and budget management.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success in leading global line or matrix teams.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field or qualification as a health professional (e.g., MD, PharmD).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in patient safety or pharmacovigilance.
- Background typically includes senior roles in the biopharmaceutical industry or a Regulatory Authority.
- Extensive business experience in patient safety, pharmacovigilance, clinical development, medical devices, business performance management, strategic analysis, or process management.
- Deep understanding of establishing, sustaining, and improving safety/PV activities, including adopting innovation.
- Strong analytical thinking skills to design, implement, and review complex cross-functional processes, metrics, and management information systems.
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities to build global collaborations and drive decisions.
Nice to have
- Post-graduate qualification in a PV-relevant area (e.g., PV Diploma, MSc) or business improvement/innovation (e.g., MBA, Lean Sigma certification).
