Interim Accountant (m/f/d) - Maternity Cover

Michael Page seeks an interim accountant for a maternity cover role in Zurich. The position involves full-cycle accounting for an international healthcare client, requiring strong English skills and availability by September 1st.

This interim role supports a well-established international healthcare and life sciences organization. The accountant will manage daily financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance while collaborating with global stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial accounting tasks, including maintaining the general ledger and performing reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows to ensure timely processing.
• Track and maintain fixed asset records.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures independently.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and assist with audit requirements.
• Generate monthly financial reports and analyses for management review.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
• Collaborate with local and international business units.
• Participate in finance process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Several years of experience in a comprehensive accounting role within an international setting.
• Demonstrated ability to handle month-end and year-end closing activities independently.
• Strong expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed asset accounting.
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Solid understanding of Swiss accounting principles and financial processes.
• Fluent English proficiency is mandatory.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Availability to start by September 1st at the latest, with earlier start dates preferred.

• Good German language skills are highly preferred.
