Michael Page seeks a Financial Accounting Manager in Zurich to oversee accounting for international entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Swiss regulations while managing key financial operations.
This position reports directly to the Finance Director and is responsible for providing comprehensive accounting support to group entities across Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. The role ensures accurate financial reporting and robust internal controls within a cross-border environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements adhering to IFRS and Swiss legal standards.
- Oversee the entire financial accounting function, covering both accounts payable and receivable.
- Process daily invoices and manage bank transaction records.
- Perform regular reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including debtors and creditors.
- Review employee expense reports and corporate credit card statements for accuracy.
- Draft Swiss VAT returns and handle other mandatory statutory filings.
- Assist the external audit team during the annual review process.
- Maintain and enhance accounting workflows, internal controls, and reporting procedures.
- Contribute to Internal Control System (ICS) initiatives.
- Support finance-related projects aimed at process improvement.
- Handle general administrative tasks within the finance department as needed.
Requirements
- Hold a Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance & Accounting or an equivalent commercial qualification.
- Possess at least 10 years of professional experience in financial accounting.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR), Swiss GAAP, and IFRS.
- Be fluent in English.
- Have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in the construction, engineering, or infrastructure industries.
- Ability to communicate in German.
- Familiarity with Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP platforms.
