Accounting Manager

EF Education First seeks an Accounting Manager in Zürich to oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance for legal entities in a hands-on, independent role.

The company is looking for a professional to take full ownership of the financial close process and the accuracy of books for assigned legal entities. This position requires a high degree of independence and numerical expertise to support finance leadership in strategic oversight and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close activities for designated legal entities.
• Review and challenge journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports produced by the outsourced service centre.
• Generate regular financial statements, reports, and variance analyses.
• Maintain relationships with external auditors and advisors.
• Ensure tax and regulatory compliance for all relevant entities.
• Drive process improvements and contribute to standardization across the finance team.
• Provide support for budgeting and forecasting activities.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of professional experience in accounting.
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
• Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.
• Fluency in English.
• EU national status or a valid Swiss work permit.

Nice to have

• Experience with Big 4 firms or multinational organizations.
• Familiarity with outsourced or shared services models.
• Proficiency in additional languages.
