Lead Civil Engineer - German Speaking

A senior Lead Civil Engineer role at Kanadevia Inova in Zürich, focusing on waste-to-X projects within a consortium. The position requires German fluency, civil engineering expertise, and experience with EPC projects in the German market.

This position drives the civil engineering scope for Waste-to-X initiatives within a civil consortium or EPC package. The role plays a key part in transforming waste into energy, heat, hydrogen, and other valuable resources, ensuring successful project delivery from design through execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee civil design coordination with consortium partners, subcontractors, internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Direct design activities across procurement and execution phases for civil, structural, geotechnical, architectural, and infrastructure components.
• Facilitate collaboration among civil engineering disciplines and project stakeholders during design and construction.
• Prepare civil procurement packages, including technical specifications and commercial contract requirements.
• Participate in contractor negotiations and address technical queries during procurement and project execution.
• Report project progress to management and operations teams, supporting claim management activities.
• Travel up to 10% for project coordination and execution as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in EPC, construction, or large industrial projects as a Design Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience delivering projects in the German market, including knowledge of local regulations, permitting processes, and industry standards.
• Strong understanding of international civil engineering design and construction codes and standards.
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Established professional network and local market knowledge in Germany.
• Proven project management capabilities; PM certifications are advantageous.
• Experience with structural design software and 3D BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
