The Mechanical Technician will join a multidisciplinary R&D team to support the design, assembly, and installation of RF components for the High-Luminosity LHC. The position involves collaborating with engineers, technicians, and students on projects that enhance current accelerator performance and advance future high-energy machines. Team members work in advanced laboratories, gaining exposure to cutting-edge engineering and scientific practices.
Responsibilities
- Create mechanical parts and assemblies using CATIA for 2D and 3D CAD work.
- Assist throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design to final installation.
- Prepare technical documentation and manage procurement of necessary parts and materials.
- Track project progress, coordinate activities, and prepare equipment for shipment.
- Oversee on-site installation and commissioning of mechanical systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience or strong academic background in mechanical design.
- Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools, particularly CATIA.
- Understanding of technical drawings, project management, and mechanical assembly processes.
- Competence in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- Must have no more than two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Must hold a general secondary education diploma as the highest qualification.
- Must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
- Applicants with Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degrees are not eligible.
