Lonza seeks a Senior MSAT Material Management & Single-Use Systems Expert in Visp to lead material strategies, ensure GMP compliance, and support biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

The company is looking for a specialist to join its MSAT team in Visp, focusing on innovative material management and single-use technologies. This position plays a key part in shaping biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, enhancing supply chain resilience, and supporting the global delivery of therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for raw materials and single-use systems within the Microbial MSAT group.
  • Conduct risk assessments to evaluate how materials affect process performance, product quality, and supply stability.
  • Manage material-related investigations, deviations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and change controls in line with GMP standards.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Process Development teams, as well as external suppliers, to solve technical issues.
  • Oversee material lifecycle and supplier management, implementing strategies to maintain manufacturing reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance for material qualification, optimization, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Promote the standardization and harmonization of material management and single-use system practices across local and global teams.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections, customer audits, and general GMP compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, process support, material management, or other GMP-regulated settings.
  • Deep expertise in raw materials, single-use systems, supplier management, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, risk management methods, deviations, CAPAs, and change control procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical investigations.
  • Capacity to influence stakeholders and lead initiatives without direct line authority.
  • Fluent proficiency in English.
