PhD Candidate in Clinical AI, Data Privacy and Large Language Models at Bfh in Biel, CH. Part-time role focusing on AI for precision oncology, biomedical LLMs, and patient engagement apps.
The position supports the national NAIPO flagship initiative on AI for precision oncology and contributes to SP2 regarding biomedical large language models for clinical text. The role also aids BFH's involvement in SP6 by incorporating LLM components from SP2 to generate patient-friendly medical explanations. The candidate will work closely with national research, clinical, and industry partners to advance toward a PhD.
Responsibilities
- Create and assess techniques for de-identifying, anonymizing, and securely handling sensitive clinical information.
- Develop large language model applications for extracting information, summarizing data, retrieval-augmented generation, and supporting clinical decisions.
- Share scientific findings through publications and contribute to project documentation.
Requirements
- Hold a Master's degree in computer science, data science, medical informatics, computational linguistics, biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate strong programming abilities, preferably using Python.
- Possess experience in machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, or data engineering.
- Maintain very good proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of German is considered beneficial.
- Familiarity with French or Italian is appreciated.
