EPFL invites applications for PhD candidates in AI for Science (Health, Biology) within the SATURNA initiative, focusing on RNA dynamics and disease mechanisms in Lausanne.
Selected candidates will join the LTS4 laboratory at EPFL to contribute to the SATURNA research initiative. This project aims to decode the dynamic behavior of RNA and understand its role in disease states, with the ultimate goal of establishing principles for diagnosing and treating complex human disorders. The role involves co-developing AI models with domain experts to accelerate clinical translation.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute a high-quality research program in collaboration with SATURNA partners.
- Engage in teaching activities as assigned.
- Contribute to scientific publications and outreach events.
- Fulfill all administrative and formal requirements set by the host institution.
Requirements
- Eligibility for doctoral studies at EPFL.
- An MSc degree, or exceptionally a 4- or 5-year BSc degree.
- Academic background in biology, computational biology, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or applied mathematics.
- A strong drive for collaborative research with significant impact in biology or health.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
