Julius Bär seeks a Private Banking Compliance Officer for the Americas & Iberia region based in Zürich. The role focuses on client onboarding, regulatory adherence, and supporting business units with compliance matters.

This position acts as the central point of contact for compliance within the Private Banking team, specifically supporting the Americas and Iberia regions. The role exists to ensure rigorous adherence to regulations while enabling relationship managers to operate effectively and create value.

Responsibilities

  • Review client onboarding files, assessing KYC details, fund flows, and event-triggered updates.
  • Assist relationship managers and leadership in managing and supervising compliance-related matters.
  • Lead internal investigations alongside specialist departments and business management.
  • Track and resolve pending onboarding issues and escalations.
  • Detect and examine significant instances of non-compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training materials on compliance topics.
  • Contribute to internal compliance initiatives.
  • Propose and execute improvements to existing processes and services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in law or business administration, or postgraduate studies in Compliance Management.
  • Three to five years of experience in client onboarding at an international private bank or in audit.
  • Deep understanding of Swiss regulations, particularly AML rules and client documentation standards.
  • Solid knowledge of the Americas and Iberia markets.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to write clear and concise assessments.
  • High level of integrity and discretion.
  • Meticulous, independent, and solution-oriented work style.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and general IT skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Fluency in English and either Portuguese or Spanish (written and spoken).

Nice to have

  • Additional language skills are considered a plus.
