Julius Bär seeks a Junior Compliance Officer for a temporary role in Zurich, focusing on client reviews, risk mitigation, and regulatory adherence within the Financial Crime Compliance Department.
This temporary position, valid until December 31, 2026, sits within the Client Reviews Team of the Financial Crime Compliance Department. The role is designed to support the bank’s mission of creating value beyond wealth by ensuring rigorous adherence to compliance standards and managing financial crime risks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive periodic and event-driven client reviews, including verifying KYC data and analyzing transaction patterns.
- Implement necessary compliance actions and remediation steps to lower institutional risk.
- Examine supporting documents, assess adverse media findings, and evaluate potential reputational threats.
- Raise concerns when necessary and assist in monitoring mitigation strategies to protect the bank from risk exposure.
- Investigate name and adverse media screening alerts to distinguish between true matches and false positives.
- Work closely with partners across the three Lines of Defence and other internal functions or affiliates.
- Help improve existing processes, procedures, and tools to boost efficiency and strengthen risk management.
Requirements
- A university degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Several years of specialized experience in Legal, Compliance, or Audit roles at a global bank.
- Working knowledge of global AML and CFT regulations and standards.
- Capability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from complex information.
- Ability to communicate difficult decisions or opinions firmly and remain composed under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow up on tasks.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office and general IT skills.
- Business fluency in English.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of German or other languages.
