CERN seeks an Entry Level Project Engineer/Scientist for Radiation Effects in Geneva. The role supports RADNEXT 2030 objectives, coordinating transnational access workflows and scientific activities within the Accelerator Systems department.
This position sits within the Radiation to Electronics (R2E) activity of the Accelerator Systems department at CERN. It bridges project management, user access operations, and radiation effects research to help deliver RADNEXT 2030's goals. The role offers extensive exposure to the European radiation hardness assurance community, CERN's accelerator infrastructure, and related experiments.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the transnational access workflow for facilities under the RADNEXT 2030 framework.
- Help define, test, and enhance the online portal for facility access.
- Provide scientific backing for organizing and executing RADNEXT 2030 consortium tasks.
- Assist with scientific communication, dissemination, and outreach efforts for RADNEXT 2030.
- Participate in applied research on new beam techniques and radiation environment characterization.
- Support integrating the HEARTS@CERN facility and its user management into the RADNEXT 2030 consortium.
- Collaborate with the wider radiation effects community via the RADNEXT 2030 user base and aid in training activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in radiation effects testing and radiation hardness assurance.
- Background in designing, preparing, and conducting irradiation experiments.
- Skills in scientific writing and dissemination, including publications, reports, and conference contributions.
- Nationality of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- Master's degree in Applied Physics, Electronics Engineering, or a related field with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation experience, or a PhD with up to 3 years of post-graduation experience.
- No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract.
