Quality Technician

HUBER+SUHNER seeks a Quality Technician in St. Gallen to support operations quality within a Lean Manufacturing environment, focusing on component inspection, testing, and documentation.

This position serves as a key member of the Operations Quality Team, contributing to the creation of high-standard products for the communications sector. The role functions within a Lean Manufacturing framework, ensuring that quality standards are met through rigorous testing, inspection, and process adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly, inspection, and testing of micro-components and electronic parts.
  • Conduct incoming material quality checks and commission testing for electronic components.
  • Analyze data from precision-manufactured parts to support prototype development and non-conformance investigations.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing standards, including Standard Work Instructions, batch records, and quality reports.
  • Participate in product and process projects aimed at enhancing Total Quality Management (TQM) and customer satisfaction.
  • Test products and subassemblies to verify functionality and quality compliance.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to equipment, devices, or products.
  • Manage waste disposal in line with company policies and transport procedures.
  • Prepare and assemble necessary materials for production tasks.
  • Set up and operate test equipment following standard work procedures and manufacturing practices.
  • Assist engineers in the development, building, and testing of new products, processes, or prototypes.
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment using tools such as callipers, micrometres, and gauges to ensure quality output.
  • Inspect electronic, mechanical, and prototype materials for IQI, IQL, and OQL compliance per specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date logs, tracking documentation, and systems.
  • Plan and schedule work to ensure on-time delivery of tasks.
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain the work area according to 5S standards.
  • Measure and record data related to equipment, processes, and product development.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, engineers, management, and cross-functional departments.

  • Strong attention to detail and awareness of Health & Safety practices.
  • Demonstrated practical skills in relevant tasks.
  • Ability to understand and implement established processes.
  • Capacity to interpret engineering proposals and collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Skill in following work instructions and creating them when necessary.
  • Efficiency in working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities with a positive influence on team dynamics.
