Quality Engineer

HUBER+SUHNER seeks a Quality Engineer in Aarberg to lead quality initiatives for micro-components in a Lean Manufacturing setting, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and driving continuous improvement.

This position sits within the Quality Team and focuses on maintaining and enhancing product standards for high-tech communications sectors, including defense, space, and transportation. The engineer will oversee assembly, inspection, and testing activities for micro-components within a cleanroom environment, ensuring alignment with Lean Manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality systems to support corporate and internal management frameworks.
  • Process change controls, including PCR, DCR concessions, modification levels, and SwBRT.
  • Address and resolve non-conformance issues.
  • Oversee software release processes, including development, approval, review, and enhancement.
  • Schedule and execute internal audits for ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards.
  • Track and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Process Indicators (PIs).
  • Communicate metrics, project status, improvement ideas, and proposals to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of objectives.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Maintain work areas according to 5S standards.
  • Champion Lean practices by identifying, investigating, and implementing organizational programs.
  • Offer guidance and training to colleagues.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of Health & Safety protocols.
  • Internal Auditor Certification for ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001.
  • Familiarity with legislative standards such as RoHS, REACH, and SCIP.
  • Proven experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), problem-solving techniques, 8D methodology, and FMEA.
  • Competence in statistical data analysis using tools like Minitab or JMP.
  • Demonstrated practical skills and a clear understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to implement processes effectively and interpret engineering proposals.
  • Capacity to liaise with other disciplines and follow work instructions precisely.
  • Self-motivated ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to positively influence colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or MES systems for data entry.
