Senior Database Admin

SUMMIT RECRUITMENT AG seeks a Senior Database Admin in Zürich to manage Microsoft SQL systems, ensuring high availability and security while collaborating with dev and ops teams.

This position centers on the design, implementation, and maintenance of database solutions, with a specific emphasis on Microsoft SQL environments. The incumbent will work alongside development and operations groups to ensure systems are robust, secure, and performant.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize database performance to guarantee system availability and security.
• Apply DevOps methodologies to automate database deployment and configuration tasks.
• Partner with software engineers to resolve database issues and enhance query efficiency.
• Develop and sustain backup and recovery protocols for database infrastructure.
• Design and execute high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies to drive ongoing improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated background as a Database Administrator specializing in Microsoft SQL.
• Fluent command of both German and English in written and spoken forms.
• Hands-on experience with database automation, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Advanced skills in SQL scripting and query optimization techniques.
• Solid understanding of database security standards and their practical application.
• Familiarity with DevOps ecosystems, including source code repositories and integration platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications like the Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
• Prior exposure to alternative database platforms such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience utilizing containerization tools like Docker within database contexts.
• Knowledge of cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Previous work in a DevOps or DBA capacity within a German-speaking region.
