Senior Drug Safety Physician (m/f/d)

Viatris seeks a Senior Drug Safety Physician in Allschwil, CH, to lead medical safety oversight for clinical programs, manage risk strategies, and ensure regulatory compliance in a hybrid role.

The company is looking for a medical expert to serve as the primary safety lead for clinical development programs. In this position, the physician will guide strategic safety decisions across various therapeutic areas and clinical phases, supporting the creation of innovative treatments for unmet medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for the safety aspects of assigned clinical development programs.
• Identify, assess, and manage potential safety signals and risks.
• Serve as the chair and medical lead for the Safety Management Team.
• Share safety findings and recommendations with the Drug Safety Committee.
• Help prepare essential regulatory documents, including DSURs, RMPs, ISS, and Investigator Brochures.
• Work closely with clinical, regulatory, and data management colleagues.
• Act as the company representative during meetings with Health Authorities and external groups.
• Review individual serious adverse events (SAEs) and ensure accurate safety reporting.

Requirements

• Hold a medical degree (MD or equivalent).
• Have at least seven years of experience in pharmacovigilance, clinical safety, or clinical development.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of drug safety regulations, GCP, and global PV requirements.
• Show proven ability to interpret complex clinical safety data and drive decisions.
• Experience with regulatory safety documents (e.g., DSUR, RMP, CCDS).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (advanced level required).
